First Come, First Served Scheduling

Classes are scheduled on a first come, first served basis.  That is, our schedule starts off blank and is filled in as specific class requests are made. Of course, we do have limitations; for example, the number of classes we can offer per hour, which instructor is available at any particular hour, and the number of times we will offer any particular level within an hour. Most importantly, any student who is scheduled in a class that is less than two thirds full will be subject to last minute schedule changes.  Nevertheless, the sooner you request a day, time, level, and instructor, the more likely we can accommodate your needs.  If you have very specific time constraints and/or multiple children to schedule, we highly recommend you reserve classes months in advance. Also note that there is no preference reserved for current customers in future classes.  Furthermore, classes are not scheduled on a rollover basis; they are only scheduled as they are requested.  In other words, do not assume that if your class is at 3:30 during the current session that you will automatically be signed up for 3:30 in the following session or that the same level will necessarily be offered at 3:30.
 

Registration Fee

A $20.00 non-refundable registration fee per child will be added to the cost of the first session in each calendar year.
 

Deposits

A deposit of $25.00 is required to hold your class space until Day 1 of the session, at which time any remaining balance is due.  If no deposit is made within 24 hours of registering for a class, the student will be deleted from the class.   Full payment must be received by Day 2 of the session or the student will not be allowed to participate and the reservation may be given away.  All payments are non-refundable.  
 

Refunds

No refunds will be given for any reason. Once we have reserved a spot for you in a class, that spot is considered “sold” and is no longer marketable.  When scheduling classes, it is your responsibility to make sure that vacations, appointments, and health concerns do not interfere with the lessons for which you have enrolled.  Payments cannot be transferred from one family to another family. 
 

Session Cancellations by Customers

If your request to cancel an entire session is received at least two weeks prior to the first class of the session, you will be given school credit (no cash refunds will be given for any reason) for the amount paid minus the $20.00 registration fee.  This credit may be applied to a future session.  Cancellations received less than two weeks prior to the start of the session will not receive any credit.  We do not issue cash or credit card refunds.  We cannot transfer funds from one family to another family at any time.  However, it may be possible to transfer to another class time within the same session (even after the session begins) based on availability.
 

Student Absences (Make-up Policy)

We will make every effort to fairly handle absences due to a child’s serious illness.  We feel that missing a lesson due to the occasional cold, stomachache, fever, naps, doctor appointments, vacations, or simply forgetting the lesson are the sole responsibility of the parent.  If your child is feverish or contagious, please keep your child at home to expedite their recovery and limit the risk of spreading infection to other students and our staff.

Sunshine Swim School is committed to providing swim instruction of the highest caliber.  Parents have complained that when students making up a missed class are placed in their children’s class, it is disruptive to their child and inhibits his/her progress.  In order to maintain the quality of instruction that your child deserves and that you have come to expect from us, we have adopted a fairly rigid make-up policy.

For all sessions, you pay for each of the classes for which you are scheduled.   For the first 2 "Excused" absences, we will make every effort to schedule a make-up.  We require no less than 12 hours advance notice to consider the absence "Excused.”  Unexcused absences are not made-up.  There will be no more than 2 make-up classes scheduled per session.  We will only schedule make-ups in classes with two or less students, and during the session that the missed lesson occurred.  Because of this, we cannot guarantee a make-up will be able to be scheduled for every excused absence.  Make-ups will not be carried over to a future session.  Additionally, there is a high probability that the make-up will be scheduled with someone other than your child’s regular instructor. If a make-up class cannot be scheduled, we will issue you a $6.00 coupon, maximum of two coupons issued per child per session, which may be used as credit for a future session.  If you miss a scheduled make-up, another make-up will not be scheduled nor will a coupon be issued.  Please note that you must present the actual make-up coupon to receive the credit, and we do not issue replacements for lost or misplaced coupons.
 

Class Cancellations by Sunshine Swim School

If we have to cancel class for any reason (such as lightning), we will issue you a “Monsoon Make-up Coupon”, each good for one full class credit towards another session, or you will be scheduled for one of our “Monsoon Make-up” days.   Please do not assume lessons are cancelled if it is raining.  We will hold all classes unless there is danger presented by lightning, as is common during the summer monsoons.  In an effort to provide our families with the times for which they are registered, lessons will not be cancelled any earlier than 10 minutes prior to the beginning of the class time.  Every effort will be made to contact you of any cancellations as soon as possible!  Thank you for your understanding.
 

Instructor Requests

We understand that once your child finds a teacher with whom he or she is comfortable, you may want to continue with that teacher.  We will try our best to accommodate your request, however we cannot guarantee that you will be assigned the instructor that you request.  We do not notify you if there is a teacher change or if the request cannot be granted.  If the teacher is available, the first person requesting the teacher is assigned to that teacher.  Because all of our teachers are excellent, we feel confident that your child will improve equally well with any of our teachers.  In fact, we feel that it may benefit your child to take lessons from a variety of instructors since each one has a unique style to offer.
 

Teacher Absences

We schedule our instructors to avoid any unnecessary staff absences, however, at times, a teacher may be unavoidably absent.  Should your instructor be absent, we will provide an extremely competent substitute.  If your instructor is absent more than once, we will attempt to provide the same substitute as during previous absences.  In the extreme case when no substitute can be provided, we will arrange a make-up lesson or issue a coupon worth the full price of a class.
